Innovative Refrigeration Systems is proud to have worked with our client in Ridgefield, Washington on their recent facility expansion project over the past several months. They are a major distributor of natural & organic foods, distributing to Whole Foods and other top chains. Innovative Refrigeration Systems was contracted to design, build, and install an upgrade to the Ridgefield facility refrigeration systems, furthering the client’s eco-friendly objectives with natural refrigerants.

This project was a major expansion that utilized an ammonia/CO₂ cascade system, enabling our client to retire their existing Freon system. This system includes 11 of Innovative’s mini penthouses, 4 screw compressors, and 3 reciprocating compressors housed on Innovative Refrigeration skid packages, which were assembled at our facility in Virginia by our team of highly trained craftsmen. Once the skid assemblies were completed, they were shipped cross-country to the Ridgefield facility for installation by our construction teams. This major expansion project will bring the total footprint of the facility up to nearly 800,000 square feet, and will allow our client to better support its customer base in the Pacific Northwest.

Innovative Refrigeration Systems worked closely with the general contractor, Environmental Structures Inc. to complete this project on schedule, despite a rainy spring in Washington. This system has recently completed commissioning and this phase began 15 weeks after mobilization of the project. Innovative Refrigeration Systems is nearing completion on installing 7 new hanging evaporators in existing cold dock spaces that will tie into the previously mentioned state of the art cascade refrigeration system. This work is scheduled to be completed within the next week and will wrap up a successful project for all involved!
